BELLEVILLE – A car hauler and his wife are suing over injuries he allegedly suffered in a fall from atop a truck.
Gregory L. Burdess and Lisa Burdess filed the suit April 4 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Cottrell Inc., General Motors LLC and Auto Handling Corporation.
On April 28, 2014, the plaintiff was employed by Jack Cooper Transport Company Inc. as a car hauler, the suit says. The defendant employed mechanics to maintain, inspect and repair JCT's trailers, including the trailer in question in this suit.
Burdess claims he was injured while working on the upper deck of the rig at issue when he fell to the ground.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff suffered injuries to his feet, including disfigurement; he has spent large sums of money on medical bills and rehabilitation costs; and he has sustained wage and benefit loss, and will continue to do so into the future.
Lisa Burdess seeks judgment for the loss of consortium of her husband in the amount of at least $50,000 against each defendant.
The plaintiff seeks a judgment in excess of $50,000 for each of seven counts plus court costs. The plaintiffs are represented by Brian M. Wendler and William Boker III of Wendler Law PC in Edwardsville.
