Company sues over East St. Louis real estate dispute

By Molly English-Bowers | Apr 18, 2016

BELLEVILLE – A development company is suing over alleged non-payment of fees in a real estate deal.

Achieving Higher Results LLC filed the suit April 6 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Inner City Enhancement Neighborhood Redevelopment Corporation and Robert Bonner Jr.

On May 30, 2011, the plaintiff and Bonner had a meeting regarding the redevelopment of land at 4 Vieux Carre in East St. Louis. Achieving Higher Results alleges the defendant promised to pay it for its services.

The plaintiff sought tax abatements for the project and founded Inner City Enhancement, the suit says. Then on July 2, 2013, the plaintiff found funding for the project.

On Feb. 3, 2014, the plaintiff allegedly assigned Inner City to Bonner on the condition that Bonner would develop the real estate into a shopping plaza and pay the plaintiff the agreed-upon sums.

On Aug. 11, 2014, the plaintiff submitted an invoice totaling $90,246 to the defendant, the suit alleges. A second invoice was submitted on July 29, 2015. However, no payment has been made by the defendant, according to the complaint.

Achieving Higher Results seeks a judgment of $90,246 and pre-judgment interest, court costs and other relief the court deems just and proper. The plaintiff also asks that the court rescind the assignment to defendant Bonner and restore ownership to the previous owners of Inner City Enhancement Neighborhood Redevelopment Corporation.
