Roller skater alleges injuries from uneven floor

BELLEVILLE – A patron at a roller skating rink is suing over injuries she allegedly received when she fell on an uneven floor.

Courtney A, Liefer filed the suit March 31 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Rolo Skate Inc. and Fun Spot Skating Arena Inc.

Rolo Skate operates the Fun Spot Skating Center at 1400 West Blvd. in Belleville, the suit says.

Liefer claims that on Jan. 15, she was rollerskating at Fun Spot when she skated over a raised area on the floor, lost her balance, fell and injured her elbow, which required surgery.

The suit alleges that the defendant had a duty to maintain a safe skating surface but was negligent in doing so. Furthermore, Liefer alleges there was no warning of the raised area on the floor.

The plaintiff seeks at least $50,000 for lost wages, continuing medical bills, and pain and suffering, plus court costs. She is represented by Thomas G. Maag of the Maag Law Firm LLC in Wood River.
