Motorist sues following rear-end collision

EDWARDSVILLE – A motorist is suing over injuries she alleges occurred when a turning tractor-trailer caused her to stop her vehicle suddenly and another motorist struck the rear of her car.

Hannah B. Williams filed the suit April 6 in Madison County Circuit Court against Jonathan Warner, Robert Piernik and General Electric International Inc.

On April 8, 2014, Williams claims she was driving her vehicle southbound on Highway 111 near its intersection with Timberlake Drive in Granite City when Piernik, who was driving a tractor-trailer for General Electric, allegedly turned left in front of her car.

Warner was driving his vehicle behind the plaintiff's, the suit claims. The suit alleges that the plaintiff had to stop suddenly because of Piernik's actions. Then her vehicle was struck from behind by the car driven by Warner.

The plaintiff alleges Warner was negligent in failing to keep a proper lookout, failing to brake to avoid a collision, and failing to maneuver his vehicle to avoid the collision.

Williams alleges she sustained injuries to numerous parts of her body, pain and anguish, continuing medical bills, lost wages and damage to her future earning capacity, the suit says.

The plaintiff seeks judgment from each defendant in excess of $50,000 plus court costs and other relief the court deems just and proper. She is represented by Ronald J. Foster Jr. of Walton Telken Foster LLC in Edwardsville.
