EDWARDSVILLE – A collection agency is suing a Madison County man, alleging a debt owed by the defendant for a line of credit from Sallie Mae.
CACH LLC filed a lawsuit Feb. 16 in Madison County Circuit Court against Donald E. Grooms.
According to the complaint, on July 27, 2006, Grooms entered into a line of credit agreement with Sallie Mae. He received the loan and became obligated to pay for charges incurred with it.
The suit alleges Grooms defaulted on his obligation to make payments and the account was subsequently charged off by Sallie Mae. A balance of more than $79,000 remains. CACH became the owner of the account, and the debt, in the course of a purchase transaction and now seeks payment.
The lawsuit says all credits and payments have been properly applied, so Grooms is not entitled to any additional credits, and the balance of $79,184 remains due and owing. The suit also says demand has been made of the defendant to pay the balance due but he has refused to do so.
CACH seeks judgment of $79,184, court costs and any further relief the court deems fair and just. The plaintiff is represented by Mandarich Law Group LLP of Chicago.
