EDWARDSVILLE – A Missouri customer is suing Jack in the Box, alleging negligence over injuries she says she received inside the restaurant.
Lisa Juels of St. Charles, Missouri, filed the lawsuit Feb. 4 in Madison County Circuit Court against Jack in the Box Inc., alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, on July 24, 2014, Jules was inside a Jack in the Box at 2163 Madison Ave., Granite City. While she was standing inside the restaurant, the suit says, an employee or representative of the restaurant swung open the kitchen door she was in front of, causing the door to violently strike the plaintiff
The suit says the defendant was negligent in the employee swinging open the door without ensuring it was safe to do so, failing to keep a proper lookout for customers in front of the door before opening it, failing to warn the plaintiff of hazards associated with standing in front of the door, and failing to exercise reasonable care in operating the business.
The plaintiff alleges her injuries have caused pain, lost wages, loss of enjoyment of life, medical bills and disability.
Juels seeks at least $50,000, plus court costs and other relief the court deems just and proper. She is represented by attorney Matthew P. Young of Kuehn, Beasley & Young PC in Belleville.
