Belleville woman blames motorist for collision

BELLEVILLE – A Belleville woman is suing a motorist, alleging negligence for injuries she says she incurred in an automobile accident.

Tammi L. Vickery filed the lawsuit Jan. 7 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Morgan L. Watkins.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 15, 2014, while driving her vehicle along Interstate 64 west near its merge point with Interstate 55 in St. Clair County, Vickery says she was struck from behind by Watkins, who was traveling in the same direction.

The suit says his negligence includes driving faster than reasonable given the conditions, failing to keep a proper lookout and failing to yield to other traffic. The lawsuit states the result was that Watkins' vehicle struck the Vickery's car and she sustained bodily injuries.

The plaintiff says her damages include medical bills in the past and the future, pain in the past and the future, and loss of a normal life.

Vickery seeks at least $50,000 as well as court costs. She is represented by attorney Jon E. Rosenstengel of Bonifield & Rosenstengel PC in Belleville.
