A Missouri woman is suing a Belleville medical office after a chair allegedly collapsed under her weight.
Kelly Reno filed a lawsuit Nov. 30 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Psychiatric Services of Southern Illinois LCC, alleging negligence and carelessness.
According to the complaint, on Feb. 13, 2014, Reno was in the 2900 Frank Scott Parkway West, Belleville, offices of the defendant when she attempted to sit on a chair in the waiting room. The suit says the chair collapsed because it was unstable, broken or unable to hold the weight of users and led to injuries for the plaintiff and that the defendant failed to remove or repair the chair or to warn patients of its condition.
The suit alleges Reno was injured in her head, neck and back, with the future use of all three being permanently diminished. The plaintiff says she has medical expenses of $2,000 and expects future expenses and has lost wages approximating $2,000.
Reno seeks no more than $50,000 in damages, plus court costs. She is represented by attorney Mark. R. Bahm of McAvoy & Bahm LC in Fenton, Mo.
