A St. Clair County motorist is suing another driver, alleging negligence for injuries he says occurred in an automobile accident.
Jose Veliz filed a lawsuit Dec. 1 in St. Clair Count Circuit Court against Rachel Williams, also a resident of St. Clair County, alleging negligence.
On Dec. 4, 2013, the complaint states, Veliz was driving a vehicle westbound on Carlyle Avenue in Belleville while Williams was driving eastbound on the same road. As the plaintiff was about to cross the intersection at Green Mount Commons Drive the defendant allegedly struck his vehicle.
The lawsuit states as a result of the defendant's negligence, the plaintiff suffered injuries to his neck and back, head and limbs, and the cervical, shoulder and lumbar areas. The complaint alleges Veliz has spent money for medical treatment and expects to do so in the future and expects his current pain and suffering to continue, as well as his loss of ability to lead a normal life. He has also lost wages, the suit says.
Veliz seeks a trial by jury, damages of at least $50,000 and court costs. He is represented by attorney Melanie Adams of Sievers & Borcherding of Brentwood, Mo.
