A Belleville woman is suing a motorist, alleging negligence for injuries she says she sustained in an automobile accident.
Markita T. Farmer filed a lawsuit Dec. 11 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against John H. Dozier of Belleville, alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, on Dec. 17, 2013, Dozier was driving his vehicle in an alleyway near 60 Farthing Lane in Belleville while, at the same time, Farmer was traveling west on Farthing Lane near the defendant. The plaintiff claims Dozier negligently operated his motor vehicle, causing it to collide with the Farmer's vehicle.
The lawsuit says Dozier was guilty of failing to keep a proper lookout, failing to keep his vehicle under control, failing to avoid the collision with Farmer's vehicle and failing to stop in time to avoid an accident.
As a result, the complaint alleges the plaintiff was severely and permanently injured, has continued and will continue to suffer pain and anguish, has spent and will spend money for medical treatment, has lost and will lose wages and has been damaged in her future earning capacity.
Farmer seeks more than $50,000, court costs and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney Micah S. Summers of Schoen Walton Telken & Foster LLC of Edwardsville.
