Couple alleges motorist caused rear-end collision

A couple is suing a St. Clair County motorist over injuries they allegedly sustained in a vehicle collision.

Harold R. Morris and Patsy I. Morris filed a lawsuit on Oct. 26 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Jodie L. Reinhart, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, at approximately 8:36 p.m. on Sept. 12, Patsy Morris was operating a Kia Sorento eastbound on Barnett Avenue in Macon County. Harold Morris was a passenger in the vehicle, which was stopped at a red light at the U.S. Route 51 intersection. The suit says Reinhart, driving a Ford F250 truck, approached and rear-ended the plaintiffs' stopped vehicle at a high rate of speed.

The suit alleges Reinhart was negligent in failing to maintain proper control, failing to apply brakes, driving while impaired, driving while under the influence of alcohol or other substances, and other negligent acts or omissions.

As a result, the lawsuit states the plaintiffs sustained bodily injuries, great physical pain and mental anguish, and large sums of medical expenses.

Harold and Patty Morris seek damages of more than $50,000, plus costs of the suit. They are represented by attorney Jack C. Vieley of Bloomington.
