A driver and passenger are suing a driver for $100,000 following a Belleville accident, alleging severe injuries.
Chermyne Griggs and Marvin Walker filed a lawsuit Sept. 24 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against William Maynor claiming his negligence caused an accident resulting in both of their injuries.
The plaintiffs claim they were traveling Westbound on West Main Street in Belleville on May 3 when their vehicle was hit by a car driven by Maynor in a negligent fashion.
Griggs and Walker allege Maynor failed to properly apply brakes, was driving at an excessive rate of speed, did not keep a proper lookout for other drivers and failed to drive his vehicle in a single lane.
The plaintiffs claim they both suffered severe injuries requiring medical attention, lingering disabilities and incurred medical expenses.
Griggs and Walker are both seeking an award in excess of $50,000 plus the costs of this suit. They are represented by Thomas C. Rich, Kristina M. Cooksey and Melissa M. Rich in Fairview Heights.
