Woman alleges motorist's negligence led to an O'Fallon auto accident

A motorist is suing another driver for allegedly causing an accident that resulted in injuries.

Katherine Lewis filed a lawsuit on Sept. 24 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Melissa Childs, claiming Childs' reckless operation of her vehicle caused the accident.

According to the complaint, Lewis claims that on June 10, she was traveling Eastbound on West Highway 50 in O'Fallen when her vehicle was struck in the front by a car operated by Childs.

Lewis alleges it was Childs' negligence to keep proper lookout for other vehicles, failure to apply brakes, failure to yield to other vehicles and reckless rate of speed which led to the accident.

Lewis alleges that due to the accident she was seriously injured, requires medical attention and incurred medical bills, the suit states.

Lewis is seeking a judgement in excess of $50,000 plus costs of this suit. She is represented by Thomas C. Rich, Kristina D. Cooksey, and Michelle M. Rich in Fairview Heights.
