Former UPS driver sues over alleged slip and fall

A former UPS delivery driver is suing a Madison County supply and equipment company for injuries he allegedly suffered when he fell on a worn, uneven portion of a stairway.

Matthew DeGroot filed a lawsuit against Metro Supply and Equipment Company and Danmar Enterprises, Inc. (owner or controller of the premises) on Aug. 26 in the Madison County Circuit Court, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, on or about Oct. 31, 2013, DeGroot, as a UPS delivery driver, was assigned to make a delivery to Metro Supply. An employee at the company directed him to make the delivery at a green door on the premises. DeGroot claims he complied with the directions and began to climb the stairs but was unable to maintain his footing on the worn, uneven portion of the stairway and fell.

According to the lawsuit, DeGroot is seeking an amount that is fair and reasonable, under the circumstances, as well as costs of the lawsuit.

DeGroot is represented by Roy C. Dripps of Armbruster, Dripps, Winterscheidt & Blotevogel, LLC.
