Wrongful death suit filed against foster mother in girl's death

A foster mother is being sued for wrongful death by the administrator of the estate of a girl who died while in her care.

Rene Butler, independent administrator of the estate of the late Cyrenity Gordon, deceased, filed suit on Aug. 21 in Madison County Circuit Court for a wrongful death suit settlement against Apryl Pitman, the foster mother in whose care Gordon had been placed.

The suit alleges that Gordon died as a direct result of an act of negligence on the part of Pitman, and seeks a settlement in the amount of $100,000, to be paid on the behalf of Pitman's insurer, and to be divided in specific terms among Gordon's family, the medical facility that provided care for Gordon, her legal representation and the administrator.

The lawsuit also provides for further allocation of said funds to the family to be determined by the court, as well as any further relief determined just and proper by said court.

Butler and the Gordon family are being represented by Joseph R. Hillebrand of St. Louis.
