A St. Clair County man is suing a Washington Park bar and one of its employees, alleging the employee broke several bones in the plaintiff's face with his fist.
Tom Hornbeak filed a lawsuit on Aug. 10 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against STMP Entertainment, doing business as Blondies, and Danny McNatt, alleging negligence and carelessness.
According to the complaint, on June 23, 2014, Hornbeak was at Blondies in Washington Park, when McNatt, an employee of Blondies, "without provocation punched plaintiff in the face, causing him to suffer facial fractures."
The suit says the defendant business failed to keep its workers from using excessive force, failed to train its workers, recognize McNatt's allegedly violent tendencies, properly supervise McNatt, and also allowed McNatt to use excessive force.
The suit charges McNatt with punching Hornbeak and using excessive force.
As a result, the lawsuit states, Hornbeak sustained not only injuries, but also pain and suffering, and medical expenses.
Hornbeak seeks damages of more than $150,000, more than $75,000 from each defendant, plus legal costs. He is represented by attorney Eric Kirkpatrick of Kirkpatrick Law Offices in Belleville.
