Father claims Edwardsville teen suffered permanent injuries in collision

A father is suing a motorist on behalf of his minor child over a Madison County motor vehicle accident that he alleges left the teenager with permanent injuries.

Mark Maue, individually and as next friend of Isaac L. Maue, filed a lawsuit on July 13 in Madison County Circuit Court against Stefanie R. Schrieber, alleging vehicular negligence in a June collision.

According to the complaint, on June 15, Isaac Maue was operating a 2003 Ford Taurus southbound along Troy Road in Edwardsville when Schrieber, driving a 2009 Ford Escape northbound, turned into southbound traffic, causing a violent collision with the plaintiff’s automobile.

The plaintiffs accuse Schrieber of negligence when she failed to yield the right of way at an intersection, keep a sufficient lookout for other traffic including Isaac Maue’s car, and slow down, stop or swerve to avoid impact with the plaintiff’s vehicle.

Maue alleges personal injury and property damage, and contends his son endured physical pain and suffering, sustained disabling injuries to his shoulder and collarbone, and incurred lost future earning capacity along with medical bills.

The Maues seek more than $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs,. They are represented by attorney Matthew Chapman of Becker, Schroader & Chapman in Granite City.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 15-L-884.
