Motorist stopped at intersection sues driver over alleged injuries in collision

A St. Clair County man has filed a lawsuit against a motorist alleging negligence in an automobile accident in Belleville.

Andrew Hacker filed suit June 11 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Yvonne Curtis, claiming that she violated traffic regulations in a December 2013 motor vehicle collision at an intersection.

According to the filing, Hacker was stopped in his vehicle facing southbound on Greenmount Road at or near its junction with Mascoutah Avenue on Dec. 30, 2013. Court documents indicate that Curtis, also traveling southbound, struck the plaintiff in his stopped vehicle.

The suit states that Curtis was negligent in failing to control her vehicle, keep a proper lookout for others on the roadway, maintain a safe speed, and reduce her speed to avoid the collision.

The plaintiff alleges that as a result of the accident, he sustained severe, permanently disabling injuries to his neck, left arm, back and other areas. Contending that he has suffered pain and anguish, incurred lost wages and medical bills, Hacker seeks judgment in his favor for damages in excess of $50,000 plus attorney’s fees and costs. He is represented by Gregory M. Skinner of Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 15-L-339.
