Shiloh rear-end accident results in suit

A man has filed suit against the driver who he claims rear-ended his vehicle in Shiloh, causing him to sustain various injuries.

Robert Gryzmala filed a lawsuit Nov. 6 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Andrea T. Abbott.

In his complaint, Gryzmala claims he was driving west on Lebanon Avenue near its intersection with Eagles Landing Drive on Aug. 17, 2012, when Abbott, who was driving in the same direction, struck the back of his vehicle.

Because of the collision, Gryzmala suffered head, neck, back, right shoulder, left shoulder and right knee injuries and sustained an impaired ability to work and enjoy life, according to the complaint. He also lost wages and incurred medical costs, the complaint says.

Abbott negligently failed to keep a careful lookout, failed to maintain control of her vehicle, failed to drive in a careful manner, drove too fast, followed Gryzmala’s vehicle too closely, failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision and collided with Gryzmala’s vehicle, the suit states.

In his complaint, Gryzmala is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

William K. Holland and Genevieve M. Fikes of Fox, Goldblatt and Singer in St. Louis will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-568.
