A Madison County woman says she had video taken of her without her knowledge while tanning at a Collinsville salon.
Megan Griffith filed a lawsuit Oct. 31 in Madison County Circuit Court against William L. Brayton Jr., Pacific Beach Tan, also known as Pacific Beach SI LC, and Johnson Clarke Inc.
Griffith was a customer of Pacific Beach Tan in Collinsville, according to the complaint, in December 2012. Griffith claims Brayton Jr. came into the salon shortly after and asked to use the tanning room next to her's. She says she locked the door to the room she was in but noticed Pacific Beach's tanning rooms had walls that did not go completely from floor to ceiling.
At some point while he was in the room next to Griffith, Brayton Jr. allegedly held his cell phone under the wall and recorded Griffith while she was in various stages of undress. Griffith accuses Brayton Jr. of recording her without consent. She is suing the salon and its owner, Johnson Clarke Inc., of negligence for failing to protect her from being recorded without her knowledge.
Griffith asks for more than $150,000 in damages and court costs.
She is represented by attorney G. Michael Stewart of Alton.
