Driver blamed for running red light in St. Clair County suit

A man has filed suit against the driver who he claims disregarded a red light and ran into his vehicle.

Jarvis D. Herron claims he was driving north on Bunkum Road near Washington Park on June 9, 2013, when defendant Renata L. Greer, who was driving south on Kingshighway, ran a red light and struck Herron’s vehicle.

Because of the collision, Herron suffered disability and disfigurement, experienced great pain and mental anguish and lost earnings, according to the complaint. He also incurred medical costs, the suit states.

Herron blames Greer for causing the collision, saying she negligently disobeyed a traffic control device, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to properly apply her brakes, failed to reduce her speed to avoid a collision and ran a red light.

In his complaint, Herron is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Gregory M. Tobin of Pratt and Tobin in East Alton will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-552.
