The daughter of a recently deceased woman has filed suit against the drug company that she claims manufactured an unsafe liquid that was pumped into her mother during dialysis.
Christina Marchetti claims her mother, Rebecca Hubbard, was receiving a dialysis treatment in November when an unsafe dialysate was pumped into her, causing her death.
Because of her mother’s death, Marchetti has been deprived of her mother’s love, companionship, society and support and has incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Sept. 19 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Marchetti blames defendant Mary Martin, who was administering the dialysis treatment, for contributing to her mother’s death, saying she negligently allowed an unsafe dialysate, which is a fluid used in dialysis, to be administered to Hubbard during her dialysis treatment.
DaVita Rx is also named as a defendant because it failed to inform its purchaser that the dialysate was defective, the suit states.
In her two-count complaint, Marchetti seeks a judgment of more than $150,000, plus costs.
Thomas Q. Keefe Jr. of Keefe and Keefe in Belleville will be representing her.
Madison County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-1588.
