Shiloh accident near Main and Cross leads to suit

A man claims he suffered severe and permanently disabling injuries after a driver failed to keep a proper lookout and struck his vehicle.

William Floyd filed a lawsuit Aug. 2 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Nicole Polen.

In his complaint, Floyd alleges he drove south near the intersection of Main Street and Cross Street in Shiloh on Feb. 7, 2012, when Polen, who drove north near the same intersection, collided with his vehicle.

Because of the collision, Floyd suffered injuries to his left shoulder, back and body; sustained great pain and mental anguish; lost money because of his inability to pursue his normal occupation; and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint.

Floyd blames Polen for causing the collision, saying she negligently drove too fast, failed to yield to other vehicles and failed to keep a proper lookout.

In his complaint, Floyd seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Gregory L. Shevlin of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer and Shevlin in Belleville will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-405.
