Woman's ride down corrugated sewer pipe, on a sled, leads to injuries

A woman claims she suffered numerous injuries after she attempted to ride a sled down a sewer pipe at a Collinsville home.

Deborah Creamer filed a lawsuit July 30 in Madison County Circuit Court against C. Brian Hayes and Hayes Contracting.

In her complaint, Creamer says she was invited to join a party at Hayes' home at 1220 Honey Lane in Collinsville. She claims she attempted to ride a sled down a homemade slide Hayes had constructed from corrugated sewer pipe but struck her legs and feet on the slide during the process, according to the complaint.

Because of the incident, Creamer experienced pain, incurred medical costs and lost wages, the suit states.

She blames the defendants for failing to warn her of possible harm, for failing to protect her from harm, for failing to stop her from injuring herself and for failing to provide safety equipment to her.

In her complaint, Creamer seeks a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Morgan Scroggins of Scroggins Law Office in Granite City will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-1275.
