Case against school bus company ongoing in St. Clair County

An Aug. 1 status conference is set in a lawsuit against a school bus company after students and parents at an O’Fallon elementary school say they were hurt.

Lisa Gish, Justin Jenkins and Lillian Jenkins, individually and on behalf of their minor children, filed a lawsuit against Illinois Central School Bus LLC Sept. 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

According to the complaint, all three parents and their children were in their cars in the parking lot of Central Elementary School in April. At that time, the plaintiffs allege they were hit from behind by a school bus owned and operated by Illinois Central School Bus.

Gish and the Jenkins accuse the bus company of comparative negligence and ask for more than $50,000 in damages.

The plaintiffs are represented by attorneys Thomas C. Rich and Kristina D. Cooksey of Fairview Heights.

According to court records, Rory R. Margulis represents the defense.

Circuit Judge Robert LeChien presides.
