Madison County Bus Transit sued over passenger's accident injuries

A man has filed suit against Madison County Bus Transit, alleging he sustained permanent injuries while riding on a bus when a bus driver struck a vehicle.

Michael Delany claims he was riding on a bus defendant Danny Hillis was operating for defendant Madison County Bus Transit on July 19, 2012. The bus was traveling on Canal Street and Route 3 in Brooklyn when it struck the left rear panel of another vehicle, according to the complaint filed July 16 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Because of the collision, Delany suffered serious painful and permanent injuries, experienced permanent pain and mental anguish and endured disfigurement, the suit states. He also incurred medical costs, was prevented from attending to his usual duties and lost wages, the complaint says.

Delany blames Hillis and Madison County Bus Transit for causing his injuries, saying they negligently failed to keep the bus under proper control and failed to keep a proper lookout.

In his complaint, Delany is seeking a judgment of more than $300,000, plus costs.
