A man says he suffered from two broken arms, broken teeth and broken ribs when a driver struck his Harley Davidson.
Donald Minton filed a lawsuit July 16 in Madison County Circuit Court against Paul Kelley.
In his complaint, Minton alleges he drove his Harley Davidson north on Highway 159 near its intersection with Main Street in Collinsville on June 28. While Minton was passing through the intersection, Kelley made a left turn and struck the side of Minton’s motorcycle, according to the complaint.
Because of the collision, Minton suffered severe and permanently disabling injuries, sustained great pain and mental anguish and endured severe facial injuries that required hospitalization, the suit states. He also lost wages and incurred medical costs, the complaint says.
Minton blames Kelley for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to drive at a safe speed, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control and failed to stay within the proper lane.
In his complaint, Minton is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Bruce R. Cook of Cook, Ysursa, Barholomew, Brauer and Shevlin in Belleville will be representing him.
