Motorcyclist seeks $50K over Collinsville accident

A motorcyclist claims he sustained various injuries after a driver switched lanes and crashed into his vehicle.

Terry R. Snodgrass filed a lawsuit July 12 in Madison County Circuit Court against Sophia A. Sharos.

In his complaint, Snodgrass alleges he drove a motorcycle north on Illinois Route 159 in the 900 block of South Morrison in Collinsville on June 13 when Sharos, who drove south on the same road, pulled into the center lane and prepared to turn into a car wash along the road. Suddenly, Sharos struck Snodgrass’s motorcycle, according to the complaint.

In addition to his injuries, Snodgrass suffered permanent disability and significant disfigurement and incurred medical costs, the suit states.

He blames Sharos for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to drive within a single lane, failed to yield the right-of-way to a motorcycle, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision.

In his complaint, Snodgrass seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Brad L. Badgley of Belleville will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-1157.
