Belleville accident blamed on allegedly intoxicated driver

A Belleville woman has filed suit against the allegedly intoxicated driver who she claims struck her vehicle head on when he entered her lane.

Shannon F. Anderson claims she was driving west on South Belt East near its intersection with South Charles Street in Belleville on Aug. 11, 2011, at about 8:45 p.m. when defendant Ivan O. Kenton, who was driving east on the same road, crossed into her lane.

Because of the collision, Anderson incurred medical costs, lost wages, lost her normal life and suffered pain, according to the complaint filed June 24 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Kenton negligently drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep his vehicle within his lane and drove while intoxicated, the suit states.

At the time of the collision, Kenton was working for co-defendant PJR and Associates, the complaint says.

In her complaint, Anderson is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.

She will be represented by Jon E. Rosenstengel of the Law Offices of Bonifield and Rosenstengel in Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-316.
