A man says he tore a tendon in his shoulder when he crashed into another car that turned in front of him in St. Jacob.
Martin L. and Lois Tiemann filed a lawsuit May 24 in Madison County Circuit Court against Jessia Weissman.
According to the complaint, Tiemann was driving north on Illinois Route 4 in July 2011. Near the intersection of U.S. Highway 40 Tiemann says Weissman, driving south on Route 4, tried to turn left onto Highway 40. Tiemann claims Weissman made the turn directly in front of him, making it impossible to avoid crashing into Weissman's car.
Tirmann says he hurt his shoulder in the crash. The driver and his wife accuse Weissman of negligence. They are also suing for loss of consortium and ask for more than $100,000 in damages for medical expenses, loss of income and court costs.
Attorney Thomas W. Burkart, of Hamel, represents the Tiemanns. They request a jury trial.
