Barnett Farms Trucking and driver sued over I-64 accident

A woman has filed suit against the truck driver who she claims rear-ended her vehicle, causing her to sustain severe and permanently disabling injuries.

Sara England claims she was driving west on Interstate 64 near mile post 2 in East St. Louis on March 14 when defendant Daniel Barnett, who was driving in the same direction for defendant Barnett Farms Trucking, struck her vehicle.

Because of the collision, England suffered great pain and mental anguish, endured permanent and disabling injuries to her spine and lost money because of her inability to pursue her normal occupation, according to the complaint. She also incurred medical costs, the suit states.

Barnett negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to drive at a safe speed, failed to stop when it was necessary to do so and failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, the complaint says.

In her complaint, England is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.

Bruce R. Cook of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer and Shevlin in Belleville will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-254.
