Injury suit says Belleville driver crossed center line

A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims crossed the center line and struck her vehicle head on.

Sherry Sumrall claims she was driving west on Old St. Louis Road in Belleville on Jan. 31 when defendant Robert Glenn, who was driving east on the same road, crossed the center lane and struck her vehicle.

Because of the collision, Sumrall was made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled; suffered extensive injuries to her neck, back, left leg, left knee and ribs; and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed May 10 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. She also suffered disability, experienced pain and suffering and lost money, the suit states.

Glenn negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove in such a manner to strike the front of Sumrall’s vehicle, failed to properly apply his brakes, drove too fast, failed to reduce his speed due to weather conditions, failed to drive entirely within the right-hand lane of traffic, drove on the wrong side of the road and failed to give Sumrall at least half of the road, the complaint says.

In her complaint, Sumrall is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

She will be represented by Thomas C. Rich, Kristina D. Cooksey and Michelle M. Rich of Fairview Heights.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-248.
