A woman claims medical providers at Alton Memorial Hospital caused her to undergo permanent pain when they failed to adequately treat her infected finger.
Victoria Morales filed a lawsuit May 6 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Dr. Patrick Masching, Jennifer Herndon, Alton Memorial Hospital and BC Illinois Emergency Physicians.
In her complaint, Morales alleges she went to the emergency room at Alton Memorial Hospital in hopes doctors could treat her infected fingertip. However, Masching and Herndon, who treated her, failed to render appropriate services, according to the complaint.
Because of the allegedly inadequate treatment she received, Morales claims she suffered permanent injuries and pain, endured mental anguish and suffered disability and disfigurement. She also incurred medical costs and was prevented from attending to her usual duties and affairs, the suit states.
In her four-count complaint, Morales seeks a judgment of more than $300,000, plus costs.
Samantha S. Unsell of Keefe and Keefe in Belleville will be representing her.
