A Centreville couple is being sued after a man allegedly fell from a ladder while taking boxes out of their attic.
Carnell Truitt filed the complaint May 6 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Larnell and Patricia Greenwood.
Truitt says he was at the Greenwoods' house in the 5900 block of Piat Place in March 2012. He claims the couple asked him to remove boxes from the attic and provided a ladder for him to use to reach them. Truitt alleges Larnell Greenwood was initially holding the ladder and spotting him but then walked away while Truitt was still on it.
Truitt says after Larnell left, the ladder slid and he fell, breaking his left wrist. Truitt accuses the Greenwoods of negligence and asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses, lost wages and cost of the lawsuit.
Attorneys Robert H. Pedroli and Daniel J. Gauthier of Clayton, Mo. represent Truitt. They request a jury trial.
