A man from Ontario, Canada, says his pelvis and leg were broken when the car he was riding in turned in front of another car in Centralia and crashed.
Dennon Koziol filed a lawsuit April 26 in Madison County Circuit Court against Dain H. Burress, Lawrence M. Miller and Heneghan & Associates P.C.
Koziol was a passenger in a car being driven by Burress in April 2011. According to the complaint, they were heading north on Shattuc Road near Kaskaskia College. Koziol says Burress tried to make a left turn into the entrance of an apartment complex across from the campus. However, at the same time, Miller, working for Heneghan & Associates, was driving south on Shattuc Road. Koziol claims Burress did not use his turn signal prior to turning in front of Miller. The passenger says Miller's vehicle collided with Burress' car.
Koziol says the impact of the crash caused him to break his leg in multiple places along with his pelvis, injuries he contends cost him in excess of $210,000. He accuses Burress, Miller and the civil engineering company of negligence and asks for more than $150,000 in damages for medical expenses, loss of income and court costs.
Attorney James P. Leonard of St. Louis represents Koziol. They request a jury trial.
