Fun Spot Skating blamed for girl's parking lot attack

The mother of a minor girl claims her daughter was raped in a dark parking lot of a Belleville roller skating rink.

The suit was filed April 8 in St. Clair County Court against Fun Spot Skating Arena.

The complaint states that the girl, identified as Jane Doe, was leaving Fun Spot on March 24, 2012, when she was allegedly attacked and raped at night in a dark parking lot.

Because of the attack, Jane Doe incurred medical costs, experienced pain and suffering and endured physical and emotional trauma, according to the complaint.

The suit blames Fun Spot for allowing the rape, saying it increased the risk of harm to patrons by failing to provide adequate lighting during darkness and by failing to regularly employ security guards.

Doe’s mother is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000.

Charles H. Stegmeyer of Stegmeyer and Stegmeyer in Belleville will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-189.
