A St. Clair County woman says she was hurt when she crashed into another driver who turned in front of her at an O'Fallon intersection.
Kimberly Gillespie filed a lawsuit against Richard Munro April 4 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Gillespie says she was driving west on West Highway 50 in April 2012 and stopped at a red light at the intersection of Dean Avenue. At the same time, Munro was driving east on West Highway 50, according to the lawsuit. When the traffic light turned green Gillespie says she proceeded through the intersection. However, Munro also entered the intersection with the green light and allegedly tried to turn left on to Dean Avenue.
Gillespie claims because Munro failed to yield her the right of way she could not avoid crashing into him. She accuses Munro of negligence and seeks more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses and costs of the lawsuit.
Attorney R. Tyson Mutrux of St. Louis represents Gillepsie. They ask for a jury trial.
