Dupo woman accused of causing Fairview Heights accident

A woman from Dupo is accused of swerving into oncoming traffic and crashing into another car in Fairview Heights.

Venetia A. Mink filed a lawsuit against Helen P. Conklin April 3 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

According to the complaint, Conklin was driving north on Old Collinsville Road in April 2011. As she neared the intersection of Stanford Way, the traffic slowed down and Conklin allegedly drove into the southbound lane of Old Collinsville Road to avoid crashing into the car in front of her. Mink claims Conklin, instead, crashed into her as she was driving south on Old Collinsville Road.

Mink accuses Conklin of negligence and asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses, lost wages and court costs.

Mink is represented by attorney Matthew J. Marlen of Belleville.
