Allegedly intoxicated driver causes Route 158 accident, suit claims

A woman claims she sustained neck and back injuries after an allegedly intoxicated driver struck her vehicle.

Ali Samadian filed a lawsuit April 1 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Robert Reese.

In her complaint, Samadian claims she was driving a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero south on Route 158 near its intersection with Route 161 in Shiloh on Oct. 4, 2011, when Reese, who drove a 1996 Hyundai Accent in the same direction, rear-ended her vehicle.

In addition to her neck and back injuries, Samadian incurred medical costs, experienced pain and suffering, lost wages and experienced a diminished capacity to enjoy life because of the collision, according to the complaint.

Samadian blames Reese for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout for traffic, following Samadian’s vehicle too closely, drove too fast, rear-ended Samadian’s vehicle and drove while intoxicated.

In her complaint, Samadian seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus punitive damages and costs.

LaToya Berry of Belleville and John H. Leskera of the Leskera Law Firm in Collinsville will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-167.
