Woman accused of running stop sign, causing accident

A woman is being sued for allegedly running a stop sign in St. Clair County and crashing into a car carrying a woman and her children.

Brittni Leonard, individually and on behalf of her three minor children, and Fredrick Hosein, filed a lawsuit against Patricia Duncan March 22 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Leonard says she was driving east on Illinois Route 13 in October 2012 with her kids and Hosein as passengers. As Leonard crossed the intersection of South 28th Street, Duncan, driving north on South 28th, allegedly drove through the stop sign and crashed into Leonard's car.

Leonard says she, Hosein and her children were hurt in the crash. They accuse Duncan of negligence. They ask for more than $250,000 in damages for medical expenses, lost wages and court costs.

Attorneys Thomas C. Rich, Kristina D. Cooksey and Michelle M. Rich of Fairview Heights represent them.
