A St. Clair County man says he was hurt in a multi-car crash while driving on Interstate 255.
Robert Acup filed a lawsuit Feb. 22 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Susan K. Niemeyer, Vernon M. Hohenstreet, Millstadt Rendering Company and John Doe Company.
Acup says he was driving north on I-255 in February 2011 when Niemeyer, driving ahead of him in the right lane, lost control of her car, crossed several lanes of traffic and crashed into the median.
According to the complaint, Niemeyer came to a stop blocking two lanes of I-255. Acup says he tried to avoid crashing into Niemeyer's car but was allegedly hit from behind by Hohenstreet who was driving a Millstadt Rendering work truck. The impact forced Acup's vehicle to collide with others, the complaint says.
Acup accuses the defendants of negligence and seeks more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses, lost wages and court costs.
Attorney Christopher Hoffman of St. Louis represents Acup. They ask for a jury trial.
