A woman claims she suffered disability and disfigurement after a driver rear-ended her vehicle.
Tracy L. Cato filed a lawsuit April 3 in Madison County Circuit Court against Ronald E. Cox.
In her complaint, Cato alleges she drove on Illinois Route 111 in Pontoon Beach on Sept. 11, 2011, when Cox, who was driving behind her, struck the back of her vehicle.
In addition to her disability and disfigurement, Cato suffered great pain and mental anguish, lost earnings, incurred medical costs and suffered a diminished earning capacity, according to the complaint.
Cox negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to properly apply his brakes, failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, ran into Cato’s vehicle, followed Cato’s vehicle too closely and failed to yield, the suit states.
In her complaint, Cato is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
Gregory M. Tobin of Pratt and Tobin in East Alton will be representing her.
