A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims rear-ended the vehicle in which she was riding.
Tiffani A. Bayer claims she was riding in a vehicle traveling on Illinois Route 159 in Collinsville on Sept. 1, 2012, when defendant Laura M. Witthauer rear-ended her vehicle.
Because of the collision, Bayer suffered great pain and anguish; endured disability and disfigurement; lost earnings; incurred medical costs; and experienced a diminished earning capacity, according to the complaint filed April 3 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Witthauer negligently drove in such a manner that she struck the back of Bayer’s vehicle, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to properly apply her brakes, failed to reduce her speed to avoid a collision, ran into the rear of the vehicle in which Bayer was riding, followed Bayer’s vehicle too closely and failed to yield, the suit states.
In her complaint, Bayer is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
She will be represented by Gregory M. Tobin of East Alton.
