Centrue Bank sues over $111K in principal due

A St. Clair County bank says it is owed more than $132,000 in unpaid mortgage from a man and woman, one of which is currently in prison.

Centrue Bank filed a lawsuit March 18 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Victoria McGee-Harris, individually and as trustee of the DFWM Land Trust dated August 2004. Michael W. Harris is also named as a defendant.

Centrue Bank claims DFWM Land trust borrowed more than $231,000 for a St. Clair County property in March 2009. Centrue Bank says the promissory note matured in March 2012 and DFWM, for which the Harrises are guarantors, has failed to pay off the debt. According to the complaint, McGee-Harris is currently incarcerated in a federal prison in Waseca, Minn.

Centrue Bank alleges, as of March 8, DFWM still owes more than $111,000 in principal plus more than $20,000 in interest and late charges. The bank asks for a judgement of the remaining balance and costs of the lawsuit.

Attorney Cherie Macdonald of Swansea represents the bank.
