A woman filed a lawsuit against a driver she says caused a crash in O'Fallon.
Jennifer Burns filed the complaint against Jonathan D. Mielke on Feb. 26 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
The alleged crash happened on March 1, 2011, according to the complaint, near the intersection of South Lincoln Avenue and Highway 50 in O'Fallon. Burns says she and Mielke were both driving north on South Lincoln Avenue when the defendant crashed into her.
Burns claims the crash caused serious injuries to her head, face and body. All of her "nerves and nervous systems were severely shocked," the petition reads.
Burns accuses Mielke of negligence for allegedly failing to keep a proper lookout, failing to drive at a reasonable speed and failing to slow down or stop to avoid a collision. She is asking to be awarded more than $50,000 in damages for medical bills, lost income and permanent injuries in addition to court costs.
Attorney Carmen S. Durso of Mascoutah represents Burns.
