Securitas security guard says he was fired for filing comp claim

A St. Clair County man says he was fired from his job as a security guard after he filed a workers' compensation claim.

James A. Fisk filed a lawsuit March 11 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Securitas Security Services USA Inc.

Fisk says he worked for Securitas Security Services claims that between March 2010 and January 2012 he sustained several injuries while on the job. On February 19, according to the complaint, Fisk filed a workers' compensation claim and nine days later was terminated from his job.

Fisk alleges he was fired in retaliation for filing an injury claim and, in doing so, the company violated Illinois' Workers' Compensation Act. He asks for more than $100,000 in damages for lost wages and benefits, plus costs of the lawsuit.

Fisk is represented by attorney Keith Short of Edwardsville.
