Cahokia homeowner blamed for guest's tumble on stairs

The owner of a Cahokia home is being sued after a guest allegedly fell on a set of stairs outside the house.

Edward Green filed a lawsuit March 12 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against William Ware.

Green was visiting the Ware's house in the 3600 block of Falling Springs Road in September 2012 when he fell through a gap between a set of stairs and the porch, according to the complaint. Green accuses Ware of negligence for allegedly failing to keep the stairs in a safe condition or warn guests of the danger.

Green is asking for more than $50,000 in damages for medical bills and lost wages in addition to court costs.

He is represented by attorney Alexander A. Wolff of St. Louis. They ask for a jury trial.
