Carlyle and West Boulevard accident is subject of suit

A Missouri woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims caused a collision.

Rachel Sebold claims she was riding in a 2001 Nissan Altima defendant Joy Drew was driving east on Carlyle Avenue at its intersection with West Boulevard in Belleville on March 3, 2011, when the collision occurred with Ronald Hurst’s 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe, which he was driving west on Carlyle Avenue in the left turn lane.

Because of the collision, Sebold sustained serious, permanent and painful injuries to her left leg, incurred medical costs of more than $50,000 and lost wages, according to the complaint filed Feb. 20 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Drew negligently drove inattentively and failed to keep a careful lookout, drove too fast and failed to brake to avoid a collision, the suit states.

In her complaint, Sebold is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Lanny Darr of Schrempf, Kelly, Napp and Darr in Alton will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-94.
