An Alton man has filed suit against the driver who he claims rear-ended his vehicle.

Elmer Brown claims he was driving west on West Main Street near its intersection with North Shamrock Street in Madison County on Sept. 13, 2011, at about 1:07 p.m. Suddenly, defendant Robert Condry, who was driving behind Brown, struck the back of his vehicle, according to the complaint filed March 8 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Because of the collision, Brown suffered serious injuries to his head, neck, back and spine; became sick, sore, lame and disordered; and endured physical pain and mental anguish, the suit states. He also incurred medical costs, the complaint says.

Brown blames Condry for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to exercise ordinary care while driving on the road and failed to avoid an accident.

In his complaint, Brown is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
