A man claims he sustained disabling injuries to his legs, feet, back and ribs after an allegedly intoxicated driver crossed the center lane and struck his vehicle.
Jonathan Adams claims he was driving north on Illinois Route 13 near its intersection with Four Corners Lane in Centreville Township on Jan. 18 when defendant Ramon Hawkins, who was driving south on the same road, struck his vehicle head on.
In addition to his injuries, Adams lost wages and incurred medical costs because of the collision, according to the complaint filed Jan. 30 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Adams blames Hawkins for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to drive at a safe speed, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to stay in the proper lane and drove while intoxicated.
In his complaint, Adams seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Bruce R. Cook of Cooks, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer and Shevlin will be representing him.
